Vega by Ariel Guzman

I've been a huge fan of Ariel and his nightlife photography from the first time I saw him literally roll in on rollar skates... Wow! It's not often a camera zooms by on 8 wheels! His images are quality with minimal editing and capture Providence's eclectic and electric club scene to record for the ages. Ariel makes everyone look like pretty people having fun. After much back and forth, seeing each other at nightly events, and still not setting up something, we finally were able to get together. While not our original concept, we were able to make due with limited time and an unusual location and prop - my dog and the dogpark. After this shoot, Ariel and I will both tell you that working with animals isn't easy. Vega is a good dog but the excitement of the park (and the ball!) made him want to zoom about and play, not sit for pictures with lame ol' mama. It was a good going away occasion to spend with Ariel not at the club, and I hope to make it back to shoot with him before the end of the summer!

Betty Ann Knits

Yesterday I scheduled a shoot designed to show off a new knitting pattern. I have to say, the sweater was absolutely breathtaking. Who knew some yarn and two sticks could become that intricate? The beadwork and buttons on the sweater were some of my favorite details and the three-quarter sleeve fit was just adorable. We ended up using a few props, but my favorite was the bottle of Portsmouth Brewery Beer! The lighting outside wasn't great, but wasn't bad either. It was overcast, which evened out the lighting, but still bright, so the photos came out with minimal fuss or editing on the photographer's part. Here are a few of my favorites from the shoot.
